Modem is a Helsinki-based synthpop duo consisting of Tytti Roto and Ville Valavuo. The two musicians have long been active in the Finnish punk and indie underground scene and discovered they had a common interest in electronic pop music and the synthetic soundscape of the 1980s.
Over the past few years, Modem has been actively performing at Finnish clubs and some of the biggest festivals in Finland, in addition to touring in Central Europe and the Nordic countries.
Modem has recorded, mixed and mastered all of its albums on its own, and the band’s latest album, “Interface”, was released in October 2025. The new album is an exquisite exploration of identity, illusion and emotional architecture.
