Paperi T, a rapper and poet who has reimagined Finnish rap, is now celebrating the 10th anniversary of his cult album Malarian pelko. The album’s release in April 2015 was a turning point in Finnish hip hop, and it showcased Paperi T’s unique and distinctive way of handling narrative and language.
Described as a masterpiece and as raising a new generation of artists, Malarian pelko went platinum and topped the Official Finnish Album Chart immediately upon release. His work was recognised in 2016 with two Emma Awards and the prestigious Teosto Prize. Malarian pelko has remained on the playlists of countless fans and its songs have been streamed nearly 40 million times to date.
Paperi T performed as a solo artist at Ruisrock for the first time 10 years ago, less than three months after the release of his debut album. In total, the artist has performed at Ruisrock six times: twice as part of the rap group Ruger Hauer and four times as a solo artist.
