A rising star with a distinctive rap style, DaBaby (US) can be seen in Ruisrock next summer. The self-taught artist has quickly gained a large following and is also known as an interesting social media personality. Starting out with hip-hop mixtapes, DaBaby has gained a wider audience with his hit songs Suge and Goin Baby, and the critically acclaimed debut album Baby on Baby features several big names from Offset to Rich Homie Quan. Kirk, the second studio album of the prolific artist, and Blame It on Baby, released last spring, have continued the success story. The huge hit Rockstar (feat. Roddy Ricch) from his latest album soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, remaining there for weeks. The deluxe edition of Blame It on Baby, released in late summer, is like a whole separate album.
New additions to the Finnish lineup of Ruisrock are Behm and william, both of whom have released their debut albums this fall and gained huge popularity. Nominated the most promising artist newcomer of 2020 by the YleX Breakthrough jury, Behm is well-versed in the secrets of pop music. Having crafted songs for the likes of Pikku G and Keko Salata, the artist is now captivating listeners with songs composed and written by himself. The debut album Draaman kaari viehättää, released this fall, went platinum already before its release, and all the tracks on the album soon appeared among the top 14 tracks on Spotify in Finland.
The artist behind the most-streamed Finnish song of the year, on the other hand, is william: the huge hit Penelope has remained at the top of the top 50 Finland chart on Spotify for over one hundred days, breaking the previous record. Making melodic trap in Finnish, william has quickly become one of the most-followed new artists, wowing audiences with his distinctive style. His debut single demonit passed the gold mark, and the debut album Shakespeare streamed gold soon after its release in September.
