US artist Megan Thee Stallion, who has now been confirmed for Ruisrock, has established herself as one of the top rap artists of the moment. Having released big hits, the artist has been dubbed rapper of the year in the media and her album Good News, released last year, debut album of the year. The artist also dares to take a stand. The three-time Grammy winner has written about the rights of black women in The New York Times and was named one of the 100 most influential people by the American Time magazine last year.
On festival Sunday, Ruisrock will also feature the indie phenomenon and alternative pop pioneer beabadoobee, whose first release, Coffee, rose to a play count in the hundreds of thousands in a few days. Having gained incredible success in a short time, the artist has created a dedicated fan base and received praise from critics.
The festival programme is made even more impressive by American rapper and megastar Polo G and world-class pop singer Anne-Marie from the United Kingdom. Hailing from Baltimore, USA, Turnstile stretches the boundaries of hardcore punk. The band’s third studio album, Glow On, was released in late August and garnered five-star reviews.
Finnish artists who will complete Ruisrock’s versatile programme include the critically acclaimed Jesse Markin, Finnish hip hop forerunner F, Louie Blue, who is preparing his debut album, as well as Arppa, who delights audiences with live performances based on improvisation. New announcements also include ABREU, costee, Pyhimys, Evelina, jambo and william.
